Age and safety
Recommended for ages 5+ (4+ with an adult, 7+ independently). Safety tested to an age grading of 3+ and made without PVC, BPA, phthalates or lead; conforms to ASTM F963, CPSIA, EN-71, AS/NZS 8124 and Canada SOR/2011-17, says Makedo.
Warning: choking hazard, small parts. Not for children under 3 years.

Which Makedo kit should I buy?
Makedo’s own guide: the Explore Kit (50 pieces) for 1 to 2 makers, the Discover Kit (126 pieces) for up to 5 makers at home, and the Invent Kit (360 pieces) for about 12 to 24 makers in a classroom. The Starter Kit (36 pieces) has no saw and suits a first try or a top-up. The Makedo page compares every piece.
Does it have a Fold-Roller?
No. The Explore Kit has a Safe-Saw, a Scru-Driver, a bonus Mini-Tool, 36 Scru and 12 Scru+. Add a Fold-Roller, sold on its own, when you want scored folds, or choose the Discover Kit, which has every Makedo tool.
Is Makedo safe for toddlers?
Makedo is not made for toddlers. Makedo says children 3 years or younger are not advised to have unsupervised access to it, and the Scru and Scru+ screws are small parts with a choking hazard warning. It recommends Makedo from age 5, and from age 4 with an adult helping.
What kind of cardboard works with Makedo?
Corrugated cardboard, the kind shipping boxes are made of. Makedo’s guide says foam and corrugated plastic are better cut with a sharp blade, fabric needs other tools, and rigid plastic thicker than 1 to 2 mm will not take a Scru. Makedo does not sell cardboard, so start saving boxes.
