About the Bambu Lab H2C
Bambu Lab describes the H2C as a purge-saving multi-material and multi-colour 3D printer with 7 smart-swapping hotends, up to 24-filament support, and smart features for fast, precise performance. It is a dual-nozzle, fully enclosed printer with active chamber heating, sold as an AMS Combo (the AMS 2 Pro is in the box) or as a Laser Full Combo with a 10W or 40W laser module and a cutting module. Bambu Lab’s Canadian store lists no H2C without an AMS 2 Pro.

Connecting AMS units: one or two AMS units (AMS, AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT) connect with nothing extra. For three or more, Bambu Lab specifies the 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter II (SA014), one of which is in the H2C box.

Laser safety (Laser Full Combo)
The laser module is a Class 4 laser product, and “when the printer’s protection is complete and properly working, the printer and laser module work as a class 1 laser product”, says Bambu Lab. Bambu Lab’s laser safety document says: “This device is not recommended for operation by minors. Please place the device in a location inaccessible to them to prevent accidents.” It also says “When the laser module is working, ensure the area near the device is free from bystanders, children, and pets”, “The laser module stops working if the front door, top glass cover, or safety window is opened” and “Always ensure a person is present to supervise the laser module in operation to promptly address any fire hazard.” Bambu Lab asks that the smoke exhaust system is correctly installed and that materials that could release harmful gases, such as PVC, are not laser engraved or cut.

What is Vortek?
Vortek is Bambu Lab’s hotend-swap system on the H2C: the right toolhead swaps between six induction hotends and the left uses a standard hotend, so one print can change materials and colours with less purge waste, says Bambu Lab. The AMS Combo and the Laser Full Combos include 8 hotends and one AMS 2 Pro.
How many AMS units can it run?
Up to 4 AMS or AMS 2 Pro units and 8 AMS HT units, says Bambu Lab, for up to 24 materials in one print. One or two units connect with nothing extra; three or more need the 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter II, one of which comes in the H2C box.
H2S, H2D or H2C: which is better?
They share a 350 °C nozzle, a 120 °C bed, a chamber heated to 65 °C, 1,000 mm/s top speed and HEPA filtration. Pick the H2S for the largest single-nozzle build (340 x 320 x 340 mm) at the lowest H series price. Pick the H2D for two nozzles, so one print can mix two materials, and a 10 W or 40 W laser combo. Pick the H2C for two nozzles plus Bambu Lab’s Vortek system of six swappable induction hotends, which Bambu Lab says cuts the filament wasted on colour changes.
Can a school use the laser combos?
The H2S, H2D and H2C Laser Full Combos add a laser module that Bambu Lab rates Class 4 on its own and Class 1 as a complete system when the printer’s protection is complete and working. Bambu Lab’s laser safety document says the device “is not recommended for operation by minors”, asks for a trained person to supervise the laser at all times, and for the smoke exhaust to be installed. In a school, that means a staff-run lab, not students operating the laser.
What warranty comes with it?
Bambu Lab gives a 2-year warranty on its printers and on the AMS, AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT in Canada. It needs a purchase receipt from Bambu Lab or an authorized reseller, and as an authorized reseller our receipt qualifies. Bambu Lab’s warranty statement is written for individual consumers, so schools and businesses should ask us about coverage before ordering.
