A diode laser, like the M1 Ultra and the S1, is the more affordable route and handles wood, leather, acrylic in darker colours, card and anodised metals. A CO2 laser, like the P2S and the P3, uses a gas tube instead. xTool states the P2S cuts every colour of acrylic including clear acrylic, engraves glass directly, and cuts 3mm basswood roughly six times faster than a 20W diode.

For a first machine at home or in a classroom, the M1 Ultra 20W is the lowest entry point and adds a blade cutter, printer and drawing tool. The S1 40W is the enclosed diode step up. The P2S 55W is our best selling model and the usual choice for schools and small businesses. The P3 80W is the flagship for production work. xTool's own software is xTool Creative Space, usually shortened to XCS, and it is free. xTool also documents the machines working with LightBurn, which is a paid third party program many laser owners prefer.

Cutting and engraving produces smoke and fumes, so every machine needs either an exhaust run to the outside or a filtering air purifier. The S1, P2S and P3 bundles we stock include the SafetyPro AP2 air purifier, which is the route most schools and offices take because it needs no window or ducting.

The CO2 machines add clear acrylic and direct glass engraving. Always check the material first, as some plastics release harmful fumes when lasered and should never be cut.
